My First Milestone…..!!

My First Milestone…..!!

Four weeks ago to the day, I arrived at Kiatphontip, Bangkok with the aim of losing 25kg from my starting weight of 95kg. I did not set any milestones, so this actually just happened…..in hindsight I should have set some milestones, but I am happy with my progress and today I weighed in at 84.9 kg, that is a loss of 10 kg in four weeks!

I have been very careful about what I eat and am very fortunate that Noona the amazing chef at the gym cooks very clean and healthy food. Many people who know me, know that I have a sweet tooth, luckily for me the fruit, especially watermelon and pineapple quench the need for sweets.

Here it is very easy to grab a bag of fruit and eat it on the go, these bags of fruit are 30 Thai Baht each.
Salmon with scrambled eggs and greens, extremely filling and as Noona would say ‘soooooooo tasty!’
The temptation to celebrate with eating with one of these amazing looking ice creams is great, but I better achieve my next milestone first!

The next four weeks I have set a milestone of losing another 10kg, this is where my training will have to be more intense!

Please keep following for more progress updates…..

Bangkok’s Highest Observation Deck and Rooftop Bar…..

Bangkok’s Highest Observation Deck and Rooftop Bar…..

For visitors seeking the ultimate thrill and having a ‘God’s view’ of the beautiful city and busy streets in Bangkok, I recommend a visit to King Power MahaNakhon Tower in Silom/Sathon central business district of Bangkok. 314 metres above the streets of Bangkok, this building has an awesome ‘skywalk.’ Also, a two-tiered observation tower which hosts Bangkok’s highest rooftop bar.

Just to Show, I am Training…..

Just to Show, I am Training…..

For those readers who are actually wondering if I am training or not, here is a video from one round with Kru (teacher) Pit:

One to one with Kru Pit

Mr Pit (fight name Sorapit Fairtex), is the most experienced trainer and one of the longest serving trainers of the Kiatphontip gym. He has a wealth of Muay Thai knowledge and he is an excellent teacher. His prior experience has been at Kiatsongrit camp for 17 years where he trained Changpuek Kiatsongrit, Nokweed Devy and his brothers Paidang and Santos, among many other fighters who he has helped on their fighting career.

I am very blessed that each training session, Kru Pit is holding the pads for me, the way he teaches is just fantastic. If he sees I am all tensed up, he will just start dancing to the music and get me to dance as well!!

If you get a chance please do come and train with Kru Pit. A post of the gym and facilities is coming soon!!

Blending in…..

Blending in…..

When traveling I love to blend in with the locals, so carrying big cameras and looking like a tourist is not what I am about.

As a ‘local’ you manage to get some great deals. For example, a taxi to the mall from the gym is usually around 80 Thai Baht each way (at the time of writing, that is £2 GBP each way, which can quickly add up!)

After some enquiries, I was informed of a free bus that goes from Mahidol university, Salaya to Central Salaya (mall.) As soon as I heard about this saving, I was like a kid in a sweet shop……VERY EXCITED, it had made my day!

Love to hear what great tips for saving on holiday you have made…..

Yellow Market, Salaya, Thailand…..

Yellow Market, Salaya, Thailand…..

One of my favourite pastimes whilst here is to walk to the ‘yellow market.’ I just adore seeing the various kinds of fruits and vegetables. The meat, fish and eels are a sight to be seen! Today, there were many more stalls because of the forthcoming Chinese New Year

I hope you enjoy the video and would love to have your comments, at the moment I am learning new techniques for taking and editing videos, so all comments gratefully received.

Thank you!

Holiday Money…..

Holiday Money…..

Many people have asked about holiday money. Do I use the ATM, which bank cards do I use for holidays……

I use the following banks for holiday money, N26, Revolut and Starling. The reason I chose these banks, is because they do not charge for any withdrawals and the exchange rate they offer at overseas ATM’s and places that take card payment is very favourable to the consumer. Whilst travelling I am not a big fan of carrying too much cash, I prefer to pay using the card, where it is accepted.

Regardless of which bank I use here in Thailand, I noticed that if I need cash, the majority of ATM’s will charge 220 baht, which can add up. Aeon Thana Simsap is the only one I found which charges 150 baht.

Found to be the cheapest and only charge 150 baht for cash withdrawal

The other banks charge 220 baht for a withdrawal transaction charge:

If whilst traveling in Thailand you have found a cheaper/free transaction fee, please do comment below!
