Central Park…..

Central Park…..

After getting off in the 59th street we had a walk around the lower part of Central Park, a great atmosphere, we watched a baseball game – I still do not understand it!!

The Sunday atmosphere was great, people just relaxing in the park.

Subway…..

Subway…..

We found the best way to travel is by purchasing a metro card depending on how long you are here for. You can buy one for a week or monthly. Or if you wish just top up the card as and when needed. At the time of this blog a journey costs $2:25 regardless of the distance it could be one stop or from 110st to Lefferts Blvd which is a considerable distance. If you are topping up the card it is best to top up on increments of $2:25. Thus making sure when you have finished the balance is $0.

Gurdwara…..

Gurdwara…..

As we were running late we decided to take a cab. The driver Paramjit Multani was very helpful and gave good conversation. The cab cost $50!!

Gurdwara:
The Sikh Cultural Soociety
95-30, 118th Street

At the Gurdwara there was fantastic singing of Kirtan (devotional music) and as always a great lungar (free vegetarian food).

We then got the subway from Lefferts Blvd to 110st, cost of subway $4.50 for both of us!!

Ended up having to get off the subway at 59th street as the next stop was way past our needed stop. They announced this at the last minute. Ah well adds to the fun.

Lion King on Broadway…..

Lion King on Broadway…..

Just made it in time for the showing of Lion King which is on at Minskoff Theatre (address) a good way of getting cheaper theatre tickets is to go to TKTS at times square or even better to to the one in Brooklyn which has no queues.

With TKTS Gift Certificates, they can decide what they want to see and when they want to see it!

At the Times Square Booth, the “Play Express” window does not sell tickets to musicals, dance or music performances. The line for this window therefore often moves more quickly.
