This morning we (Sangeet, Gurrinder and myself) decided to do Japji sahib, basic spinal reflex and the Ajai Alai meditation together, it was fantastic.
We then took Daya Singh to school, walked him into his classroom and was shown where he sits. Good to see him happy at school. We headed home for breakfast, stopping at whole foods on the way to grab fruit.
Then we headed to see Beji (we also met her at the 2007 Jaap sahib course in Espanola) can you believe they are 85 and 82!?!?!
After picking up Daya Singh we headed to a Chinese restaurant, Uncle Yu’s
2005 Crow Canyon Pl Ste
160 San Ramon
CA 94583
www.uncleyu.com
They do both vegetarian and non vegetarian with an extensive gluten free range (for vegetarians please be aware the brown sauce has chicken broth and fish ingredients so be sure to specify you want the food cooked without this).
Afterwards we drove back to the hostel to check out and did the Ajai, Alai meditation outside the hostel in the morning sun. We enquired there about teaching yoga, as we did not have the certificates on us they would not accept any liability. I am sure we will work something out.
We then drove to the marine centre but I took a wrong turning and we ended up on an amazing beach called Rodeo beach, we got there at 11am and it was so very quiet, just a few guys surfing.
At the beach we did the costal and lagoon trails we just could not believe how quiet this place is. I am sure tourists do not know about the beach! The walks are fantastic and worth doing, please do pack water!
Afterwards, we headed downtown to a restaurant called Herbivore
San Francisco/Valencia

This restaurant is fantastic! I ordered cheese steak sandwich, Sangeet ordered vegetable tofu scrambled and kid!?!? Sized macaroni, the portion was huge so I presumed they have big massive kids! We also ordered rhubarb pie with coconut chocolate ice cream.
As it was Daya Singh’s birthday (my very good friend’s son) we headed to a card shop, where we found some VERY interesting cards.
At around 4pm we headed to see our very good friend Gurrinder (we met Gurrinder at the Jaap Sahib course in Espanola, 2007) we hit rush hour traffic so a one hour journey took one and three quarter hours!
Drove up to the gated community and called Gurrinder for the gate code….drove up to the drive where it was fantastic to see him. We gave each other a huge (manly) hug 🙂
As it was Daya’s birthday we gave him the present and he was very happy – we hope! It was good to meet the family, phenji’s father is also into IT, so we had a good geeky conversation!
After great food which consisted of pizza and salad, Daya Singh cut the cake.
Wow! What a fantastic start to the day, we went to see the sunrise over Golden Gate Bridge. There were only three or four people there, definitely the best and quietest time to see it. Please do take some warm clothing like a fleece, the morning air is chilly but very fresh!
On the way you see many deer, we also saw a couple of mountain big cats.
We also walked to Point Bonita lighthouse, unfortunately it was closed so we will go back.
This morning we went to look for parking, near the hostel there is a park and ride but I assume you have to get there fairly early to beat the daily commuters, I suggest around 8am. As we could not find parking we headed over to downtown San Fran where we parked up, it was $4 an hour fairly reasonable.
We walked over to a restaurant in China town called Enjoy Vegetarian restaurant
839 Kearny St,
San Francisco,
California 94108
Tel 415-956-7868
Www.enjoyveggie.com
11:00 am – 2:30pm & 5:00pm – 9:00pm
The restaurant has a lot of fantastic mock meats and we definitely recommend it.
Afterwards we walked around a great China town taking in the sights, sounds and sometimes smells!
We walked over to a coffee shop, where Sangeet ordered a hot chocolate, we sat outside and watched the world go by. We noticed the people on the trams taking pictures of us!!
Afterwards had a walk down California Street to St Mary’s Square
We picked up the car at St Mary’s car park, underneath the park.
After taking a wrong turning downtown we ended up taking the Bay bridge, a mistake which turned out to be a blessing we had a look around Berkeley, where there were plenty of Indian clothes shops and restaurants. We also checked out the University of California. Â Whilst heading back to the interstate we stopped at Blick Art Materials on the check out they asked if we were teachers, I said yes yoga teachers. We got 30% off!!
Back on the road to Sausalito which is a fantastic town and full of money! Â The shops are designer and houses are expensive….I like this town!
After all the walking we felt a bit hungry and fancied an Indian, there are two Indian restaurants in Sausalito, Avatar’s and Sartaj.
Sartaj is a fantastic cheap restaurant with great thali’s for $9.50 we got this:
HAt the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised to see a yoga poster:
Also a fantastic artist who also plays with Snatam Kaur: Todd Boston
Driving back to the hostel we had fantastic views of the bay.
On the way back to the hostel we saw plenty of deer and raccoons.
Just landed at SFO and took the AirTrain to Hertz.
We picked up the car and headed towards getting some food!!
Headed over to Udupi Palace, an Indian vegetarian
1007 Valencia St (at 21st St, Mission District)
San Francisco California 94110
415-970-8000
The food is reasonably priced and very good.
On the way to the restaurant, Sangeet was looking at the map, a driver in the car next to us asked where do we want to go, he then gave us directions. From previous trips We have found people in California very friendly.
After having eaten, we headed towards the hostel:
HI-MARIN
Headlands

Sausalito, California
