Fremont Gurdwara…..

Fremont Gurdwara…..

Sangeet, Amrit Phenji, Daya Singh and I went to the Fremont Gurdwara, it is a fantastic Gurdwara.

Located in the city of Fremont in Northern California, USA. It was established in 1978 and is one of the most prominent and influential Sikh Gurdwaras in the world outside India. The Gurdwara sahib is open 7 days a week and holds daily programs for local Sikhs and visitors to pray and seek blessings. It has more than 9000 registered members.

Since its establishment, Fremont Gurdwara has been consistently involved in providing help and sharing (Vand Chakna) with the needy and homeless people around the world, especially during disasters. During Katrina, the Tsunami in Thailand, and the earthquake in South Asia, Fremont Gurdwara donated thousands of dollars, food, clothes, blankets and items to keep up personal hygiene.

Teaching is addictive…..

Teaching kundalini yoga is fantastic. I taught my second class with the set New Lungs and Circulation. Sangeet and Gurrinder got a very good workout and enjoyed my class.

Party…..

In the evening we celebrated the sixth birthday of Daya Singh, he was very happy when he received gifts!

It was good to meet Gurrinder and Amrit’s families, we all enjoyed fantastic food and a great political debate!

Stockton and Tracy Gurdwara…..

We visited two Gurdwara’s the first in Stockton:

The Stockton Gurdwara Sahib holds great historical significance to the Sikh community. It is the first Gurdwara Sahib that was built to serve the Sikh Sangat living in the United States . The Gurdwara Sahib came into existence in 1912 with joint efforts of Sardar Basakha Singh and Bhai Jawala Singh. A meeting was held in Holt, a town near Stockton where a committee was appointed to raise money for the construction of the Gurdwara.

It was in September of 1912 when land was purchased on South Granth Street in Stockton for the use of the Gurdwara. A small frame house that was already standing on the lot was used as the main building of the Gurdwara. This building still stands still where a library is now implemented. A Nishan Sahib was also hoisted for the first time at the Gurdwara. Baba Vasakha Singh and Baba Jawala Singh Thathian of Amritsar Sahib were appointed as the first Granthi Singh Jis of the Gurdwara.

Teaching my first Kundalini Yoga Lesson…..!

A great start to the day I taught my first kundalini yoga lesson, to Sangeet and Gurrinder. I was pretty confident and enjoyed loved teaching! We did the basic spinal reflex.

Afterwards we got ready and headed over to Gurrinder’s dental practice in Tracy. It is a big practice with 7 staff.
